Whatsa knitting me?

I have not been blogging for a while, and so here goes.

First, I was published in Knitty! YAY! If you have not seen it, here is my little frippery called Slingshot

On other fronts, I have been a busy girl.

Here, in order, are what I have been working on.

First we have the Flower Basket Shawl blocking on the floor of the sewing room. It was the shoulder shawl size, and I knit it with Koigu KPPPM on size 8s, making it very lacey indeed. I have to say that I did not enjoy knitting the lace, even though there are many laceknitters out there. I had lots of trouble with keeping stitch count right, even though I did all the stuff that they say to do to make lace knitting go smoothly....using markers round each pattern, enlarging the chart, counting stitches etc etc etc.

Here is the lazy Kate that I finally made for myself, from easily located materials. I need to make another, as I really do have that many bobbins, and I really do use them. I am going to plan to do a tutorial for the next one, and maybe try the metal rods, instead of dowels, like I did on this one. But really, this one is quite serviceable, and rather attractive due to the assistance of my mother on the finish. (Thanks Mom!)

Next I have a 3 ply handspun skein. This is made with the results of some of my natural dyes experimentation. There is Coburger Fuchsschaff dyed with cranberries and a logwood exhaust bath, and then some alpaca dyed with exhausted osage orange. This is a very bulky yarn, and I may do some felting with it!

That brings me to the Caps for the Capitol, which I have been knitting with the Bond USMD machine, excpet for the two top left which are crocheted.

And last but not least, I have sat down and started to knit some
Fair Isle socks with some of the stash. I am using charts from a book but pulling the rest of the pattern together from my own preferred sock patterns, and may write this one up for submission somewhere. I have to say that I am having fun with this one....much more than the lace. The pattern has a logic and reading the pattern is easier to manage than lace is. I am calling it Bosphorus for the river that the Ottoman Empire used to throw strong, disobedient or rebellious women into. Don't know why, that's just what came to mind.

I've bookmarked your "little frippery" and even though I'm not a coffee drinker, I know I'll be knitting this in the future for some caffiene junkies! Way to go getting it in Knitty!

I was so excited to see the Slingshot up on Knitty!!! I now know two knitty celebs.

I'm jealous your shawl is done! Looking good. I'm going for the large size so I'm about 2 repeats away...which I probably won't be able to get to anytiem soon.
